Karl Stevens started Unique Computers in October 2001 in the gold mining town of Beaconsfield Tasmania. Karl once worked on Australias first laptop computer 30 years ago.
The business runs on Linux computers but most of our customers use Windows. We love the open architecture of PC's and currently use Ubuntu.
We rarely refuse a job and repair and build all sorts of unusual machines.
Karl has built Redhat packages, experimented with fractals, graphic design and youtube clips. He has scripted some Windows utilities programs.
We like programming in a rural environment and believe people can live in harmony with nature and each other.
Unique Computers owns 'Carbon Storage Tasmania' to conserve the natural bush of Tasmania. We build and manage websites and do IT work for community organisation. We also make advertising signs and posters.
