If you were born before 1961 then the world population has already doubled in your lifetime. If you are still alive in 2040 then it will have tripled in your lifetime. There are people alive now who will see the world population triple in their lifetimes. This hasn't happened before in the earths history. More people make more demands on finite resources. This happens quickly but gradually enough for most people to adapt to the new realities. In the rush for a higher standard of living or often just to survive, values get compromised. Those without principles or ethics get into power. This is why any economic agenda is always put before peoples best interests. Politicians don't like free-thinkers because if you untangle a modern political speech it's full of irrational ideas. 'We must create jobs and then import people to fill those jobs, we have to destroy your environment to give you a job, we must undercut your products with cheaper imports' and so on. So how could a simple political idea be better than another simple political idea? For that matter how could a certain belief be more 'believable' than another belief? These are not just slogans anymore, they are complex global equations. So why am I trying to tell you how I think? Because we are all in this together. Big problems like world population and dwindling resources can't be solved by politicians or priests. We are the ones who define the value of money or any other resource. We know that individuals can contribute globally to benefit the whole human race. We are going to be in for a rough ride as population pressure builds, but remember, they want you to blame countries and religions or even philosophies but thats just too convenient. People don't choose the culture they are born into any more than they choose their parents. Humans have lived on this earth for eons and we will be here for eons longer. To do so we must listen to our conscience and not to populist ignorance.
